Late Joselu winner sees Spain past Italy in Nations League semi-final
Substitute Joselu curled home a dramatic late winner as Spain booked their place in the UEFA Nations League final with a 2-1 victory over Italy on Wednesday.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers forward, who replaced Alvaro Morata in the 85th minute, struck in the 90th minute to send Spain to the final four where they will play Croatia, who beat the Netherlands thanks to a penalty shoot-out win.
Spain had taken the lead through Ferran Torres' 17th-minute strike, but Nicolo Barella equalized for Italy 20 minutes later, setting up a tense finish.
Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon made a string of crucial saves in the second half to keep Italy at bay, and it was left to Joselu to snatch a dramatic winner at the death.
Spain will now face Croatia in the final, which will be played on October 10, while Italy will take on the Netherlands in the third-place play-off on the same day.
